J. Anna Chen, MD
Dr.Chen immigrated to the United States from China when she was 18 years old. After completing her undergraduate study in biochemistry at UCLA, she obtained an MD from the Keck School of Medicine at USC in 1992. Dr. Chen completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the UCLA Sepulveda VA/San Fernando program, where she received the Most Humanistic Physician of The Year award. She joined the Santa Paula Internal Medicine Group in 1995 and has been providing care for area patients in the last 20 years.
Being a general internist, Dr. Chen sees adult patients with various disorders, but she has a special interest in diabetes and hypertension management. She is a firm believer in preventive care — early and regular check-ups will prevent disease from becoming more advanced and difficult to treat in the future. She cares a lot about her patients, many of whom have been with her for a long time.
Dr. Chen is married to Professor John Lu at Cal State University, Channel Islands. Together they have three children. Dr. Chen speaks fluent Mandarin and some Spanish. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, gardening, Zumba and traveling.
