Jeffrey V. Tubbs, MD
Dr. Jeffrey Tubbs was born and raised in Santa Paula, and is a proud graduate of Santa Paula High School (Go Cardinals!!). He spent two years at Occidental College in Los Angeles, and then received his BS degree from the University of California Davis in Community Health and Development. He completed medical school at the University of California San Francisco in 1980. His training there included a tropical medicine rotation at Behrhorst Clinic, a World Health Organization Clinic at Chimaltenango, Guatemala. After a three-year Family Practice residency at Oregon Health Sciences University, Portland, Oregon, he returned home to practice medicine in Santa Paula.
Dr. Tubbs’ work experience includes four years with the Peterson Medical Group, assumption of Dr. Ernie Carlson’s practice when he retired in 1988, solo practice (including obstetrics until 1995), emergency room work at Santa Paula Memorial Hospital until its closing in 2003, and urgent care work at CMH Santa Paula Urgent Care. He is a founding member of Identity Medical Group (2013).
In 2001 Dr. Tubbs trained at UCLA in Medical Acupuncture and uses this technique in his practice. He makes volunteer clinic trips to Mexico /Baja California with the Flying Samaritans (Samaritanos Voladores) three to five times a year.
Dr. Tubbs has three grown children and two grandchildren. He enjoys hiking, back-packing, good poetry, spending time with authentic men, reading historical fiction and non-fiction, antique hunting with his sweetheart Lynell, good jazz music, and rock and roll ( especially on vinyl).
